How to turn off a Roku TV
A Roku TV turns off like any TV, but streaming sticks and boxes are designed to stay in standby rather than fully power down. Here's how each works.
Turn off a Roku TV
- Press the power button on the remote, the button on the TV, or the power control in the Roly app.
- To save energy, you can also use a sleep timer (see below) or the TV's auto power-off setting under Settings › System › Power.
About streaming players
Roku streaming sticks and boxes don't have a true off switch — they drop into a low-power standby when idle. To cut power completely, unplug the device or use a smart plug. A 'Fast TV start' / power option in Settings controls how deeply it sleeps.
FAQ
- Why won't my Roku stick turn off?
- Streaming players are built to stay in standby so they wake instantly. That's normal — unplug it or use a smart plug if you want it fully off.
