Roku TV running slow? How to speed it up

A sluggish Roku — slow menus, long load times, buffering — usually just needs a refresh. Try these from quickest to most thorough.

Speed-up checklist

1. Restart it: Settings › System › Power › System restart. This alone fixes most slowdowns.
2. Install any pending software update (Settings › System › System update › Check now).
3. Remove channels you don't use — a cluttered home screen and background updates can bog things down.
4. Improve Wi-Fi: move the Roku closer to the router, or use Ethernet on a player. Buffering is almost always a network issue.
5. If it's still slow after all that and the device is old, a factory reset can clear out years of cruft — set it up fresh afterward.
