Roku remote not working? How to fix it
When a Roku remote stops responding it's usually the batteries, the pairing, or a device that needs a restart. Work through the list below. In the meantime, you can keep using your TV normally with the Roly app on your phone.
Fixes to try, in order
- Replace the batteries — weak batteries are the number-one cause, especially with voice/enhanced remotes.
- Restart the Roku: Settings › System › Power › System restart, or unplug it for 10 seconds.
- Re-pair an enhanced (Wi-Fi) remote by holding the pairing button in the battery compartment for about 5 seconds until the light flashes.
- For a simple infrared remote, make sure nothing is blocking the line of sight to the Roku.

Which kind of remote do you have?
- Point-anywhere (enhanced) remotes talk to the Roku over Wi-Fi Direct and can be re-paired.
