How to clear the cache on a Roku
Roku doesn't have a dedicated 'clear cache' menu, but a restart clears the temporary memory that builds up and slows things down — that's the real equivalent.
The simple way: restart
- Go to Settings › System › Power › System restart and select Restart.
- When it boots back up, the temporary cache is cleared.
The remote shortcut
You can force a restart without the menu using this button sequence on the remote: Home five times, then Up, Rewind twice, Fast-forward twice. The Roku will refresh and reboot on its own.
For one misbehaving channel
If only a single channel is affected, remove it and add it back from the Streaming Store for a clean copy — the closest thing to clearing that app's data.
FAQ
- Does Roku have a clear-cache option?
- Not as a menu item. A system restart clears the temporary memory, and reinstalling a specific channel clears that app's data — together they cover what 'clear cache' does on other devices.
