How to connect a Roku TV to a soundbar
A soundbar connects to a Roku TV in a couple of minutes. HDMI ARC is the best option — it carries audio and lets one remote control the volume.
Connect with HDMI ARC (recommended)
- Plug an HDMI cable into the TV port labeled HDMI ARC (or eARC) and the matching port on the soundbar.
- On the TV, enable HDMI-CEC / 1-Touch Play so the devices talk to each other (Settings › System › Control other devices, or similar).
- Set Settings › Audio › S/PDIF and ARC (or Audio mode) so sound is sent to the soundbar.
- Test the volume — with ARC + CEC, your Roku remote should now control the soundbar's volume.
No ARC port? Use optical
Connect an optical (S/PDIF) cable from the TV to the soundbar, then set the audio output to S/PDIF. Optical carries audio but doesn't pass remote-volume control the way ARC does, so you may need the soundbar's own remote.

- Why isn't sound coming from my soundbar?
- Check that the cable is in the ARC-labeled HDMI port, HDMI-CEC is enabled on the TV, and the Roku audio output is set to ARC/S/PDIF. A restart of both devices often finishes the handshake.
