Listen to Roku with headphones (private listening)
Private listening routes your TV's sound to the headphones plugged into (or paired with) your phone, so you can watch at any hour without disturbing anyone. Roly supports this with its Headphones mode.
Turn on private listening
- Connect Roly to your Roku over the same Wi-Fi network.
- Plug headphones into your phone, or pair your AirPods / Bluetooth headphones with the phone.
- Tap the Headphones (private listening) button in Roly.
- Audio moves from the TV speakers to your headphones — adjust volume with your phone.
Tips for the best experience
- A strong Wi-Fi signal keeps audio and video in sync — sit closer to the router if you notice lag.
- Wired headphones generally have the lowest latency; most Bluetooth headphones work well too.
- Private listening works on most Roku streaming players and many Roku TVs.
FAQ
- Does private listening work with AirPods?
- Yes. Pair your AirPods with your phone, then turn on Headphones mode in Roly — the Roku audio plays through your AirPods.
- Is there a delay?
- There can be a small delay depending on your Wi-Fi and headphones. A strong network connection and wired headphones minimize it.
